Here is the full listing of Irish social dancing opportunities in the Twin Cities. It's a whole lot of fun, it's great exercise, and to whichever of these places you go, you'll be dancing with a lot of really nice people. Come by yourself and make new friends, or bring a friend or several.
Wednesday night Irish ceili dance classes Learn the basic steps, and then join in the dances. All Ages. Free. Conway Recreation Center - 2090 Conway Street in Saint Paul. This class is held in a park and recreation gym, and is taught by a trio of fine dancers/ instructors, Ginny, Becky, and Dan, who will provide plenty of special attention for your particular level of experience. The class runs from 7:00 to 8:30.
Dubliner Irish Pub - 2162 University Avenue in Saint Paul. Learn Irish dancing in a genuine Irish Pub with a wooden floor that has known a whole lot of dancing feet. Steps and dances are taught by Suin Swann, with some dances not com- monly done else-where. The class runs from 7:30 to 9:30, with more dancing after- ward to live music.
Regular monthly ceili dances Whether you've learned the steps and dances at any of the above classes, or are a complete novice, you are welcome to join the fun with live traditional Irish music provided by our very fine local musicians. Each dance we do is taught by the caller, and there are always plenty of experienced dancers to help newcomers along. We love newcomers - this is a non-scowling activity.
